In recent years, many offshore production companies have adopted multi-company contracting strategies for large field developments. As a result, complex contract arrangements are being developed to cover the associated risks. This has led to an increasingly complex relationship between the Client and the Contractors. Past experience has shown that budgets and schedules have greatly suffered through the poor policing or management of the inter-company interfacing policies.
It was with this in mind that INTECSEA made a decision to develop an in-house Interface Management System (IMS) with all the necessary procedures, work processes and computer tools to aid in the management of interfaces and projects. It should be noted that the model is applicable to both internal and external project interfaces and can be adapted to suit any size or type of single or multi-faceted project. IMS is not entirely new, as INTECSEA’s Interface Management Team has been responsible for interfaces on a number of recent projects.
The INTECSEA IMS Team will offer the CLIENT the Interface Management System (IMS) modified to suit the particular needs of the project, including both internal and external interface management where required, and with suitably experienced engineers. The full INTECSEA IMS package, aided by the INTECSEA Interface Management Tool (IM Tool), will ensure that interfaces are identified and discussed between all affected parties and resolved through Client Management of Change process (MOC). INTECSEA will develop agreed mechanisms, responsibilities, and completion dates for resolution of any issues.
The IMS can cover the interfaces through the following areas:
