Subsea Engineering

INTECSEA's debut into subsea production engineering originally came by way of our involvement in deepwater projects such as BP's Diverless Subsea Production System (DISPS) and Exxon's Zinc Development where INTECSEA designed the deepwater (diverless) flowline passive alignment and tie-in system. We progressed by way of subsea tieback projects, such as Oryx's Mississippi Canyon, Shell's Rocky, Popeye, Tahoe II and Mensa Projects, LL&E's Garden Banks and Eugene Island satellite wells (their first two subsea projects), and Mobil's Zafiro Project offshore Africa. We became deepwater industry leaders through our coordination role in the joint industry DeepStar Program and the Partnering Arrangement with Shell Offshore as Systems Engineers for its deepwater Gulf of Mexico subsea production developments.

In recent years, INTECSEA's Subsea Production Systems Engineering Group has emerged as the industry leader in providing services for deepwater subsea technology for water depths to 2,100 m and beyond. As an example, our systems engineering along with deepwater technology studies were employed for BP/Marathon/and TFE/Canyon Express's record-breaking project in 7,100 ft (2,165 m) water depth.

INTECSEA's subsea expertise also has been instrumental in successfully implementing "fast track" projects. One example is the success of Oryx Energy's exceptionally rapid implementation of three satellite wells in Mississippi Canyon. Besides bringing in production ahead of schedule, in less than one year, one of the wells set Gulf of Mexico records for deepest subsea gas well (2,088 ft) and the deepest, longest (7.3 mile) all flexible flowline.
